Indiana - Crystal Skull [review]

Billed as an action movie, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull is actually a tragedy. Obviously the creators were hard up for funds and decided to cash in on the franchise one more time. Except this time they decided to make a highlight reel of everything they ever thought an Indiana movie should have had but never had time for. What they got out the back end was a visually stunning fluff piece. The number of unbelievable and physically impossible stunts were too many to count. The supporting cast was ok but the writing was shallow and cheap. Traditional Indy moments were rapid fire and cheesed up. Some people were a bit thrown by the the whole alien thing, but there is a lot of alien lore in Archeology, so I think it could work. Sadly the execution was poor and mostly heaped on the computer artists who managed to carry the movie in spite of total plot void. The sound track was a cut and paste emotional ride just as rapid fire, and just as non-sense as the rest of the film. It did look good but completely lacked the class and finality of all the other films. Boooooooooo.
