Awsome Rock

In a very cliché moment of boy-meets-girl, they did indeed meet one fine afternoon as their respective walks intersected. Only moments into their now mutual stroll it became glaringly obvious that it was nice. So caught up in the niceness of it all; neither of them noticed the the rock in the middle of the trail which glowed with the light of awesomeness. They tripped over it. This would have been unfortunate had this not been such an awesome rock, thus it was an awesome trip. They had an awesome time rolling around in the awesome dust. Even the people watching thought it was awesome. Soon they had to get back up and dust them selves off. “That was awesome" they both said. This was followed by one of those awkward silences. A moment passed and the girl said that she had to get back to work. The boy said something to the effect of “can I call you?” and she said “sure”. As she walked away the boy wasn't so sure she meant it, and the girl didn't seem to think he would.

This is of course a parable which begs the question, where did the rock come from. Do we make our own rock? Is the rock fate? May be it's like the feather in dumbo, a physical manifestation of something that exists within ourselves. May be it's some ones job to bring the rock and the others is to pretend they didn't see it coming. Is it possible that cupid doesn't shoot arrows but throws rocks instead?

My thoughts: I love boycotts because every time I read about a new one I find that I'm already boycotting them due to a desire to live a long and healthy life. Now if I could just find a way to boycott Federal Reserve Notes.

Also, am I the only one constantly entertained by the fact that Israeli's interviewed in the media speak perfect english, and Palestinian supporters are rarely comprehendable.

My thoughts: I would have thought that George Bush Sr. was the only guy who could do that.

Sexually transmitted disease rates soar

U.S. syphilis rates rose for a seventh year in 2007, driven by gay and bisexual men, while chlamydia reached record numbers and gonorrhea remained at alarming levels -- especially among blacks, health officials said on Tuesday.

Blacks make up 12 percent of the U.S. population, but account for about 70 percent of gonorrhea cases and almost half of chlamydia and syphilis cases, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.

Black women ages 15 to 19 have the highest rates of chlamydia and gonorrhea, and gonorrhea rates for blacks overall were 19 times higher than for whites, the CDC said.

My Thoughts: Nothing beats back sexually transmitted disease like education. No where is education more lacking than in schools named after leaders in the civil rights movement.
