smarter machines

Thesis: The most efficient way to search the internet was the utilization of search terms which factored in how the search engine was using your input to produce a desired output. This would include dropping "the" and "it" even though the search engine was supposed to ignore them. Also placing things in order of importance often helped.

It would appear, increasingly rapidly, the internet is delivering better results when common speech patterns are applied. Here is a real world example. The biggest dividing factor between apple and android is Siri.

"Tell me when my favorite show is on."

Android can not handle this statement as is, while apple can... yet Android is at no disadvantage to provide the requested information if one knows how to phrase the question.

Question: If apple is easier to use, and geared towards a less knowledgeable consumer base... is it smarter?

Rephrased: If smarter and more productive machines produce less intelligent people and lazier people, are they still smarter?
